Account Manager Position Description
Position Overview
As Account Manager, you will own the delivery of a diverse client portfolio across multiple industries. You will build strong, trusted relationships with clients at all levels — managing projects from brief to completion with precision, accountability and a high standard of care.
Working closely with the Account Director, Design Principal and Creative Director, you will be the operational backbone of the studio — keeping projects on time, on budget and on brief. You will be the primary point of contact for your clients, managing scope, communication and expectations with confidence.
This role is built for someone who is exceptional at delivery first — and who, over time, has the ambition and capability to grow into a Business Development role. Candidates who can participate in and eventually lead recent business pitches will be given every opportunity to do so as the agency grows.
This role reports directly to the Account Director.
Key Responsibilities
Client Management
- Manage a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries.
- Build strong, long-term client relationships based on trust and strategic partnership.
- Develop a deep understanding of each client's business, objectives and challenges.
- Provide expert consultation on branding, design and creative strategy.
- Deliver tailored solutions that align with client goals and business outcomes.
- Maintain explicit, proactive and timely communication with clients.
- Respond promptly to client enquiries, feedback and concerns.
- Drive client retention through exceptional service and relationship management.
- Identify opportunities to retain and expand client partnerships and generate business growth.
- Stay informed on industry trends, market developments and emerging design practices.
- Bring innovative thinking and strategic recommendations to clients.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the agency.
Project Management
- Own the end-to-end delivery of branding and design projects — from brief to final file handover.
- Coordinate project timelines, budgets and studio workflow with rigour and precision.
- Prepare client quotes, estimates and invoices accurately and on time.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on schedule and within agreed budgets — no exceptions.
- Manage project scope proactively: identify out-of-scope requests early, prepare variations and obtain client approval before work proceeds.
- Work closely with the Design Principal, Creative Director and Design team to ensure smooth, efficient project execution.
- Monitor project progress at every stage and resolve issues or risks before they escalate.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, status updates and financial tracking using DOB Studio (internal PM tool).
- Track hours per job against quoted hours and flag any over-runs to the Principal Account Manager immediately.
Studio Collaboration
- Collaborate effectively with Designers, Art Directors and other cross-functional team members.
- Help prioritise studio workload and resource allocation in coordination with the Account Director.
- Ensure creative work aligns with project objectives and client expectations at every stage.
- Support a collaborative and solutions-focused studio environment.
- Contribute to the improvement of internal systems, processes and workflows.
Business Development — Growth Opportunity For the right candidate, this role offers a clear pathway into Business Development over time. This is not a requirement of the role from day one — but it is something we actively want to develop.
- Support new business pitches by preparing project credentials, case studies and agency materials.
- Participate in new business meetings and pitch presentations, working alongside the Account Director and Strategist.
- Build awareness of DOB's capabilities and confidently represent the agency in client and prospect conversations.
- Over time, lead discovery meetings and pitch presentations independently, with a view to transitioning into a dedicated Business Development role as the agency scales.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- 5–7 years experience in Account Management within a branding, design or creative agency.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-project portfolios on time and within budget.

- Rigorous attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines without dropping the ball.
- Experience managing project timelines, budgets, quotes and invoices with accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.

Technical Knowledge
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
- Sound understanding of branding, brand development and design principles.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal creative teams and external suppliers.
- Comfortable with financial administration: quoting, invoicing, budget tracking.
- Experience with or ability to quickly adopt project management software (DOB Studio training provided).
Success in this Role The successful Account Manager will:
- Build trusted, long-term client relationships that drive retention and growth.
- Deliver every project on time and within budget — consistently and without exception.
- Manage project scope and financial administration with accuracy: quotes, invoicing and budget tracking.
- Ensure exceptional client satisfaction at every touchpoint.
- Maintain efficient, well-documented project workflows across the studio.
- Support the creative team to deliver outstanding work with clear briefs and minimal rework.
- Identify and act on opportunities to grow existing accounts.
- Actively participate in new business activity and, over time, contribute to and lead pitch presentations.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth, culture and success of the agency.

- Account Manager — own the delivery function, build deep client relationships, learn DOB's systems and clients.
- Senior Account Manager — take on more complex accounts, begin leading new business support activities.
- Business Development Manager / Client Director — lead new business pitches, own commercial growth targets, develop the agency's client base.
The pace of this progression is determined entirely by performance. For the right person, we will actively invest in making this happen.
Salary commensurate with experience and skills.
