About the Company

Our client is a premier provider of Energy Management, Building Automation, Access Control, Lighting Control and CCTV solutions, operating across Australia with offices in VIC, NSW, QLD, ACT, SA and WA. The company delivers integrated technology and network solutions designed to improve building performance, connectivity, control and operational efficiency.

The Role

We are seeking a strategic and technically experienced Account Manager / Wireless Network Engineer to manage key client relationships while designing and developing wired and wireless communications network solutions for building automation, energy management and building control systems.

The role combines network engineering with technical account management. You will assess existing network infrastructure and client requirements, develop appropriate network solutions, determine network hardware and configuration requirements, analyse network performance and communications issues, and provide technical direction during implementation, migration and commissioning.

You will also act as a primary technical point of contact for clients and work closely with Service and Project Engineers to ensure that proposed solutions meet technical, operational and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Network Engineering and Technical Solutions

- Assess client requirements, site conditions and existing communications/network infrastructure to determine appropriate wired and wireless network solutions.

- Plan and design network architecture and topology for building automation, energy management and IoT applications.

- Determine appropriate network hardware, gateways, controllers, network interfaces and communications configurations for new installations, upgrades and migration projects.

- Design and configure wired and wireless communications solutions, including Ethernet, BACnet and LoRaWAN/IoT networks where applicable.

- Assess wireless coverage, RF signal propagation, signal attenuation, interference and network performance to determine appropriate equipment and gateway locations.

- Configure and integrate network devices, gateways and field devices and ensure communications protocol interoperability with building management and control platforms.

- Assess existing network topology, addressing, connectivity and network infrastructure and recommend appropriate upgrades or improvements where required.

- Develop technical strategies for network migrations, technology upgrades and replacement of obsolete network infrastructure.

- Monitor and analyse network performance, connectivity, signal quality and device communications to identify network issues and performance limitations.

- Diagnose network connectivity, communications, signal-performance and interoperability faults, determine root causes and develop appropriate engineering solutions.

- Develop technical requirements and specifications for network installation, migration, upgrade and commissioning works.

- Provide technical direction to Service and Project Engineers during implementation and verify that network works are completed in accordance with the technical design and requirements.

- Conduct or oversee network commissioning and verify connectivity, communications and system interoperability following installation, migration or upgrade works.

- Prepare technical designs, specifications, engineering proposals, cost estimates and recommendations for proposed network solutions.

Account and Client Management

- Maintain key client relationships and act as a primary technical point of contact for assigned accounts.

- Conduct client needs assessments to understand operational requirements, network issues and technology-upgrade needs.

- Provide technical advice and recommendations regarding network performance, technology refreshes, end-of-life equipment and infrastructure upgrades.

- Identify opportunities to improve the performance, reliability and functionality of clients' existing network and building-automation infrastructure.

- Prepare and present technical and commercial proposals for recommended network upgrades and engineering works.

- Coordinate with clients, project engineers and internal teams to support effective implementation and ongoing operation of network solutions.

- Support account planning, contract renewals and ongoing client requirements while ensuring that proposed solutions remain technically appropriate and commercially viable.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have a strong technical background in telecommunications, electrical/electronic engineering, network engineering or a related engineering discipline,

together with at least 2 years of relevant work experience and the ability to manage client relationships and communicate complex technical solutions effectively.’

You will be able to:

- analyse communications and network requirements and develop appropriate engineering solutions;

- understand and interpret network architecture, topology and communications protocols;

- apply knowledge of wired and wireless communications technologies;

- assess wireless signal performance, network connectivity and protocol interoperability;

- systematically troubleshoot complex communications and network problems;

- select appropriate network hardware and determine configuration requirements;

- prepare technical designs, specifications, proposals and recommendations;

- provide technical direction during network implementation, migration and commissioning;

- communicate engineering concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders; and
- work collaboratively with service and project engineers while maintaining responsibility for the technical network solution.

Experience with BACnet, Ethernet/IP networking, building automation networks, LoRaWAN/IoT communications, wireless network technologies and network monitoring/troubleshooting will be highly regarded.

Collaboration & Success

This role works closely with service and project engineers throughout the delivery lifecycle. The Account Manager / Wireless Network Engineer is responsible for assessing client and network requirements, developing the technical solution, determining network specifications and configuration requirements, resolving engineering issues and providing technical direction during implementation.

Success in the role will be demonstrated through:

- technically appropriate and reliable network solutions;

- successful network design, integration, migration and commissioning outcomes;

- effective resolution of connectivity, signal-performance and interoperability issues;

- improved network reliability and system performance;

- successful delivery of technology-refresh and network-upgrade projects;

- high levels of client satisfaction and effective technical communication;

- timely preparation of technical and commercial proposals; and
- achievement of agreed account and commercial outcomes.

How to Apply

If you are an experienced network engineering qualified ready to design and deliver advanced wired and wireless communications solutions for building automation environments, we encourage you to apply.
