This is an exciting opportunity to be an MFS employee and be out posted to the SA Fire & Emergency Services Commission reporting to the Manager, Injury Management.

About Us:

The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) Is responsible for protecting the South Australian community from the effects of fire, road crashes, chemical incidents and other emergencies. We are a team of approximately 1,300 operational personnel and corporate professionals serving the Community across 20 metropolitan and 17 regional fire stations.

About the role:

The Return to Work Coordinator is responsible for the effective delivery of Return-to-Work services, systems and processes for operational and non-operational staff of the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Services (MFS).

The role is the central workplace contact for coordinating Injury Management and Return to Work processes to achieve a safe, timely and sustainable return to work.

The role is also responsible for determining the return to work needs for injured workers, developing return to work strategies and developing, monitoring and reviewing recovery/return to work plans including the management of high-risk and/or complex matters.

About you:

- Extensive experience in return-to-work case management, including analysing and determining return to work needs, developing and implementing solution focused return to work strategies involving case conferences and preparing and monitoring recovery/ return to work plans.




- Proven knowledge of, and ability to apply, medical and legal terminology associated with the factors influencing the management of work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Sound current knowledge of the Return-to-Work Act 2014, Regulations, and activities relating to rehabilitation, workers compensation and risk management.
- High level organisational skills, to manage high volumes of work and determine priorities to meet strict timelines, the ability to work with minimal supervision and participate as a team member to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in providing expert analysis, advice and technical expertise in interpreting and consulting on aspects of the legislation, regulations, policies and performance standards relating to return to work and in the development, implementation and review of return-to-work policies, procedures and reporting mechanisms
- Proven high level written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, and prepare and deliver sensitive information and advice to stakeholders with honesty and integrity.




- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong and productive working relationships and to liaise effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to facilitate their cooperation and support to achieve desired outcomes.
- Experience in analysing rehabilitation/return to work data and providing recommendations for system / performance improvement
- An understanding of Human Resources and Industrial Relations principles
- Experience in the maintenance of computer-based rehabilitation and claims management systems

Remuneration:

ASO6 $105,747 - $111,854 plus 12% superannuation
