Job Description

Pigmentum French polishers Pty Ltd Applies finishes such as stain, lacquer, paint, oil, and varnish to furniture and wooden surfaces, using traditional French polishing and modern techniques. Restores, repairs, and enhances surfaces to achieve high-quality finishes.

Task & responsibilities

- Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and samples to determine finishing requirements.
- Prepare wood surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and removing old finishes using approved methods.
- Select appropriate tools, materials, and French-polishing techniques for each project.
- Apply French polish, shellac, varnish, stains, and lacquer by hand to achieve specified finishes.
- Restore and refinish new and antique wood surfaces using traditional polishing methods.
- Operate sanding and polishing equipment safely and accurately when required.




- Inspect completed work to ensure finish quality and compliance with specifications.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workspace and follow workplace safety standards.

Qualification & experience

- Relevant qualification at the level of a Certificate III or higher, OR at least 3 years of relevant work experience, will substitute for formal qualification
- Proficient in traditional and modern finishing techniques (shellac, staining, varnishing).
- Ability to assess surfaces and choose appropriate restoration methods.
- Strong manual dexterity, precision, and attention to detail.

Knowledge of safe use of finishing products and materials. Able to maintain polishing tools and report material needs to the manager. Basic English proficiency for workplace communication and safety.
