We are partnering with a mission driven organisation with a diverse portfolio of national assets. The Asset Engineer will be instrumental in helping to set up and develop asset management practices across their property portfolio. It is a newly created role whereby you'll be working closely with stakeholders across Facilities Management, Capital Projects, Finance and Property to develop data-driven lifecycle strategies, asset replacement plans, improve asset data quality, manage infrastructure risk and support long-term investment decisions.
The Opportunity
As the Asset Engineer you will blend a combination of strategic asset planning with hands-on technical execution. You'll be responsible for translating engineering, condition reporting, compliance and operational data into practical asset management renewal and investment strategies and programs, while helping establish and improve asset management frameworks, processes and reporting capability.
Working across a portfolio environment, you will provide technical expertise across 5–10-year asset lifecycle planning, building infrastructure and asset risk management, statutory compliance and capital investment prioritisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement asset lifecycle and renewal strategies and build asset management maturity across the organisation.
- Analyse asset condition, performance and risk data to inform strategic investment decisions.
- Support long-term capital planning and infrastructure investment programs.
- Drive continuous improvements in asset management processes, frameworks, systems and governance.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and performance reporting tools (CMMS, PowerBI).
- Contribute to the preparation of long-term asset renewal and upgrade programs based on condition assessments and strategic needs.
- Assist in the development of budget forecasts for operating and capital expenditure.
About You We're looking for a technically capable asset engineer who is comfortable both developing strategy and rolling up their sleeves to deliver practical outcomes.
You will bring
- A tertiary qualification ideally in Asset Management or Engineering such as Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in asset management within property, infrastructure, facilities, utilities or a similar environment. Knowledge of infrastructure in health, education, and government is warmly welcomed.
- Strong understanding of asset lifecycle planning, condition assessment and risk-based asset management within the property sector
- Experience working with asset data, reporting and analytics platforms.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and build frameworks and processes in a developing setting.
