SMC Sydney Masonic Centre Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Audio Visual Technician, classified under Electronic Equipment Trades Worker (ANZSCO 342313), to install, maintain, test, diagnose and repair professional audiovisual and associated electronic equipment at its Sydney venue. The position is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of the Centre's audio, video, projection, lighting, streaming and networked audiovisual systems through technical installation, testing, preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair and system configuration. The role will also provide technical support during conferences, meetings, presentations and live events as required.

responsibilities Install, configure, test and commission professional audiovisual and associated electronic equipment and systems. Examine and test audio, video, projection, lighting, streaming and presentation equipment to identify faults, performance issues and equipment failures.

Diagnose faults involving electronic equipment, cabling, signal routing, audio and video systems and network connectivity. Adjust, repair and replace defective components, wiring, connectors and other audiovisual equipment parts where required. Reassemble, test-operate, calibrate and adjust equipment following maintenance or repair activities.

Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, testing and servicing of audiovisual and associated electronic equipment. Configure and maintain audiovisual cabling,



signal-routing equipment, Dante audio networks, NDI video systems and other IP-based audiovisual infrastructure. Conduct pre-event technical inspections and system testing to confirm equipment is functioning correctly.

Monitor audiovisual and electronic systems during conferences, meetings, presentations and live events and undertake fault rectification where necessary. Maintain equipment firmware, software, system configurations, maintenance records and technical documentation. Provide onsite technical support to clients, presenters and internal event teams regarding the correct operation of audiovisual equipment and systems.

Monitor equipment condition and recommend servicing, repairs, component replacement or technical upgrades where required. Ensure audiovisual equipment, cabling and associated electronic systems are installed, maintained and operated safely in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer specifications. Qualification & experience Relevant trade or technical qualification in electronics, audiovisual technology, electrotechnology or a closely related field.

Minimum of three years of relevant experience in professional audiovisual or electronic equipment environments. Demonstrated experience installing, testing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing professional audiovisual equipment and electronic systems.



Strong technical knowledge of audio, video, projection, lighting, streaming and presentation technologies.

Experience with networked audiovisual systems, including Dante audio, NDI video and IP-based audiovisual infrastructure. Demonstrated ability to identify equipment faults and undertake technical adjustments, repairs and component replacement. Sound knowledge of preventative maintenance, equipment calibration, testing and technical servicing.

Ability to interpret technical specifications, system diagrams, wiring layouts and signal-flow requirements. Experience providing technical support within conference, event or live-production environments. Strong problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
