Job Description
AAR Corporation Pty Ltd (Hire Sphere Global) is posting this advertisement on behalf of Batth Brothers Group Pty Ltd. Batth Brothers Group Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and reliable Carpenter to join its growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, renovating and repairing structures and fixtures made from timber, plywood, wallboard and other materials.
About the Role
The Carpenter will work across residential construction projects and perform general carpentry duties from interpreting drawings and preparing materials through to framing, installation and finishing work. The role requires solid practical carpentry skills, accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to work safely and effectively as part of a construction team.
Key Responsibilities
- Studying drawings, plans and specifications to determine the required materials, dimensions and installation procedures.
- Ordering and selecting suitable timber, hardware and other construction materials.
- Measuring, marking, cutting, shaping and preparing timber and other materials.
- Assembling and securing cut and shaped components using nails, screws, bolts and other fastening methods.
- Constructing and erecting wall frames, roof framing and other structural frameworks.
- Laying subflooring, floorboards and other timber flooring materials.
- Checking the accuracy, alignment, level and structural integrity of completed work.
- Installing fascia panels, roof sheathing and exterior wall cladding.
- Fitting door frames, window frames, doors, windows and associated fixtures.
- Assembling prepared timber components to form structures and fittings ready for installation.
- Cutting and forming timber joints using hand tools and power tools.
- Constructing and installing concrete formwork where required.
- Renovating, maintaining and repairing existing structures, fixtures and fittings.
- Working with materials such as plywood, wallboard, plastic laminates, Perspex and metals where required.
- Coordinating with builders, site supervisors, subcontractors and other tradespeople.
- Ensuring work is completed in accordance with approved plans, project specifications, building regulations and safety requirements.
- Maintaining tools, equipment and a clean and safe work area.
- Identifying construction issues and reporting them to the site supervisor or project manager.
- Completing assigned work within project deadlines and quality requirements.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate III in Carpentry, Certificate IV or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- An equivalent overseas carpentry qualification may also be considered.
- A minimum of one year of relevant carpentry experience, with one to three years of experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in residential construction, framing,
fixing and general carpentry work.
- Ability to accurately interpret architectural plans, drawings and technical specifications.
- Sound knowledge of construction methods, materials and workplace safety requirements.
- Competence in using carpentry hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.
- Good time-management and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to undertake manual carpentry and construction duties.
Desirable Experience
- Working on new residential homes, renovations, extensions, decking, pergolas or related construction projects.
- Construction Industry White Card.
- Current Australian driver licence and access to reliable transportation.
- Familiarity with Australian building standards and construction practices.
- Experience in both structural and finishing carpentry.
- Ability to supervise or assist less-experienced workers when required.
Salary
The successful applicant will receive an annual salary of $80,000–$85,000 plus superannuation, depending on qualifications, skills and relevant experience.
