Administration Officer (MACSYS) in the Faculty of Science, Academic Division

- Reference number: 26460
- Term: Fixed-term, part-time (36.25 hours per fortnight) basis for 12 months.
- Remuneration: $95,981 to $108,257 pa (full time equivalent) (HEW5) (inclusive of $81,105 to $91,478 salary pa (full-time equivalent), 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading).

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an Administration Officer (MACSYS) to join School of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science.

The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems (MACSYS); the world's largest focused research initiative in mathematical biology. MACSYS brings together mathematical, computational, and biological scientists to generate the mathematics and computational technologies required to make biology predictive. The Administration Officer supports the efficient operation of the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems (MACSYS) through the provision of high level administrative and operational support.

MACSYS generates the mathematics and computational technologies required to make biology predictive; establish mathematical whole cell models for in silica biology as a powerful complement to traditional in vivo and in vitro approaches; tackle fundamental biological problems; and establish a world-leading research and biotechnology translation environment. MACSYS is administered by the University of Melbourne and has Nodes at the UNSW, Monash University, Australian National University and QUT. The Centre also has a number of domestic and international partner institutions. MACSYS currently has 20 chief investigators, nine partner investigators and 14 associate investigators.

What you need to succeed

- Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of an associate diploma level qualification combined with at least two years subsequent relevant work experience in an administrative support capacity.
- Demonstrated digital literacy skills, including Microsoft Office, electronic records management systems and the ability to use large databases and corporate systems to achieve organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage time.
- Effective written communication skills to accurately draft routine correspondence and other documents with a high degree of accuracy.
- High level ability to manage time and tasks effectively including prioritising work, meeting deadlines and balancing competing demands.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to work as part of a team, and to consult and liaise with a wide range of people from culturally diverse backgrounds in a professional manner.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
