Hays Recruitment is partnering with a respected Government Organisation to source an experienced Carpenter for a temporary contract based in Cairns! This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the construction of new modular homes while working within a supportive and safety-focused environment.

Your new role

Commencing 1 September 2026 through to 30 November 2026, you will be based at the RAAC Facility, 46 Redden Street, Portsmith, undertaking carpentry works associated with the construction of new modular homes.

Your responsibilities will include

- General carpentry and construction activities
- Reading and interpreting plans and specifications
- Assisting with modular building assembly and installation
- Undertaking cross-trade and general maintenance tasks as required
- Working independently and within a small team environment
- Maintaining high workplace health and safety standards
- Utilising basic computer systems for reporting and documentation where required

What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Trade qualification in Carpentry or a related construction trade




- Current White Card (Construction Industry General Safety Induction)
- Current Driver's Licence
- Strong understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements
- Ability to work autonomously and within a small team
- A proactive attitude and willingness to assist across multiple trade disciplines
- Sound computer skills
- Previous experience within residential, commercial, or modular construction environments will be highly regarded
