Carpentry Trainer
Full Time | 18-Month Contract (potential to extend / permanent)
Build the next generation of skilled tradespeople
Are you an experienced carpenter ready to use your industry knowledge in a different way?
GetCareers is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Carpentry Trainer to join our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) team on a full-time, initially an 18-month contract.
This is an opportunity to step off the tools, or combine your trade expertise with a new career direction, and help apprentices develop the practical skills, confidence and knowledge they need to succeed in the construction industry.
You don't necessarily need to be an experienced trainer already. If you have strong carpentry experience, enjoy mentoring others and are willing to complete the required training and assessment qualification, we'd like to hear from you!
About the role
Reporting to the RTO Manager, you will deliver practical, industry-relevant carpentry training and assessment while supporting students throughout their training journey.
Your role will include
- Delivering engaging training and conducting competency-based assessments
- Supporting and monitoring apprentice progress
- Providing practical guidance, mentoring and additional support where required
- Conducting workplace and employer visits
- Working with employers and industry to ensure training remains relevant to contemporary workplace practices
- Contributing to course development, validation and continuous improvement
- Maintaining accurate, compliant and auditable training and assessment records
- Assisting with course scheduling, resources and student selection where required
- Building positive relationships with students, employers, industry and the broader GetCareers team
What we're looking for Most importantly, we're looking for someone who knows the carpentry industry and genuinely enjoys helping others learn.
You'll ideally bring
- Strong carpentry trade knowledge and relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated vocational competency and current industry skills
- A passion for training, mentoring and developing apprentices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valuable organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Confidence working independently as well as part of a team
- Good computer literacy
- An understanding of the importance of quality, safety and compliance
Be willing to obtain the required qualification, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110, TAE40116, TAE40122 or equivalent), or already hold. A current C Class Driver's Licence and Working with Children Check are required for the role.
Why GetCareers?
At GetCareers, we believe training is about more than completing a qualification. It's about giving people the skills, support and confidence to build successful careers.
You'll join an organisation with strong connections to employers and industry and a team committed to quality training and positive outcomes for apprentices and students.
For an experienced carpenter considering their next career move, this role offers the opportunity to pass on your trade knowledge, influence the next generation of carpenters and make a genuine impact on people's careers.
Ready to build something different?
If you're an experienced carpenter who enjoys sharing your knowledge and seeing others succeed, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply through SEEK with your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your carpentry experience and what interests you about moving into training and assessment.
