About the role
Cherubino Wines is looking for a Cellar Door Manager to lead our tasting team and grow our direct-to-customer business — Vendemmia wine club, tastings, tour groups and cellar door retail. Founded by winemaker Larry Cherubino and his wife Edwina, the winery has grown from a single vision into one of WA's most decorated producers.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves hospitality but thinks like a salesperson. Reporting directly to Ben Jacob, Head of Hospitality, you'll run day-to-day cellar door operations, lead a small, knowledgeable team, and take real ownership of growing our Vendemmia wine club and visitor experience — working alongside our marketing team to turn campaigns into visits and members. Weddings and events held on-site will also fall within your management.
You might come to this role with years of cellar door management experience, or with strong hospitality, retail or sales leadership skills and a genuine love of wine. What matters most is your ability to lead a team, own the numbers, and make every visitor feel like they've found something special.
Your working week will run Thursday to Monday, covering our busiest visitor days.
Key responsibilities
- Growing our Vendemmia wine club through tastings, events and genuine follow-up engagement
- Guiding visitors through tastings of Cherubino wines, sharing the story behind each region and label
- Selling and coordinating tour group and function bookings
- Executing weddings and events held on-site
- Leading, rostering and training our small cellar door team
- Owning the visitor experience end-to-end — from first pour to Vendemmia wine club sign-up
- Working with our marketing team to convert leads and campaigns into visits and members
- Managing cellar door P&L;, inventory and sales forecasting
- Maintaining site health, safety and compliance standards
- Managing stock, cash handling and point-of-sale operations
About you
- A genuine love of wine and the stories behind it
- Experience in hospitality, retail or cellar door management
- A genuine drive for sales and hitting targets, not just service
- Strong people leadership, with the ability to train and get the best out of a small team
- Confident communicator with natural storytelling ability
- Commercially minded, with confidence owning budgets, stock and sales numbers
- Wine knowledge essential; formal qualifications a bonus, not a requirement
- Current RSA, managers card and driver's licence
- Availability to work Thursday to Monday
