About the role

Wilson Select is a specialist executive search and recruitment firm, delivering for financial services clients for over 15 years. We work with select clients to find the people who'll shape their next chapter, and this search is one of them. We have a client, a profitable, 50-year-old privately owned financial services group based in Brisbane, growing fast across financial services business, digital assets, funds management and vault custody they're bringing in a Chief Financial Officer to lead that transformation.

You'll report directly to the CEO, sit on the executive leadership team, and be the 2IC who runs the main lane of Finance day to day, freeing the CEO to focus on growing the business. A Finance Manager will report into you as the function is built out.

Job Function

- Own financial strategy, reporting and governance across the group
- Lead financial reporting, Board papers and monthly reporting to the CEO
- Manage cash flow, working capital and banking relationships across a business with high value physical inventory
- Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts across all entities
- Ensure compliance with ASIC, ATO, AUSTRAC and AFSL obligations




- Directly manage and develop the Finance Manager and the wider finance team

What we're looking for

- CA or CPA qualified, with a degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field
- 20+ years finance experience, including 5+ years as CFO, Finance Director or equivalent
- Breadth of experience beyond finance alone, company secretary experience is a plus
- Comfortable operating in an unstructured workplace, with a track record of maturing a finance function from a humble starting point, genuinely hands on, boardroom to basement
- Has restructured a finance function before and holds a clear point of view on what best practice looks like
- Experience managing finance in a business with high value physical inventory and significant working capital cycles
- Permanent working rights in Australia required
