As Chief Government Geologist and Custodian of the state’s geoscience and exploration data, you will ensure Queensland remains at the forefront of new mining and resource development and capitalises on the opportunity this provides for economic development. Your authoritative geoscience advice, spanning the entire lifespan of extractive activities, will provide industry, government and the community with support that guides informed decisions on Queensland exploration prospect and resource assessment potential.

The Chief Government Geologist is crucial to building the evidence base that bolsters international market investment confidence and positions Queensland as a trusted global partner. Your continued focus on championing new analytical techniques and AI predictive modelling to maximise the value of the state's geological data, driving rigorous data collection programs and investing in modern geoscience capabilities, will help drive this investment confidence.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of geoscience and data specialists, resource-industry professionals in developing our geological data, knowledge and insight, and supporting awareness and promotion of the resource potential of the state to support economic diversification and ongoing prosperity.
