The Opportunity
We are seeking a dependable and capable Cleaner / Relief Cook to support the daily upkeep of our on-site accommodation, amenities, offices, and communal spaces, while also taking on full meal preparation and kitchen service during a regular relief cook rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & housekeeping responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning guest rooms, ensuites, and communal bathrooms to a high standard
- Making beds, changing linen, and restocking room amenities
- Performing laundry duties including washing, drying, and linen handling
- Cleaning offices, dining rooms, gyms, and recreation areas
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying bins, and completing all routine cleaning tasks
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the site
Relief cook responsibilities will include:
- Independently planning, preparing, and delivering breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 13+ on-site staff
- Managing food ordering, stock control, and kitchen inventory during the rotation
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and food-safe kitchen environment across all services
- Assisting with dining room setup and service areas during the rotation
General responsibilities will include:
- Supporting overall site presentation and contributing to a positive team environment
- Occasionally assisting with minor yard work or light maintenance tasks as required
Key Selection Criteria:
- KSC 1 Cleaning, Housekeeping & Presentation Standards - Demonstrated experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or accommodation services, with a minimum of 6 months in a comparable role. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining consistently high standards of cleanliness and presentation across accommodation, communal, and facility spaces.
- KSC 2 Laundry, Linen & Room Servicing - Demonstrated ability to carry out laundry duties including washing, drying,
and linen handling, and to service accommodation rooms to a consistent standard including making beds, changing linen, and restocking amenities.
- KSC 3 Camp Cooking & Meal Service - Demonstrated experience planning and cooking full meals for groups of 10 or more people, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner service. In this role, you will be responsible for all meal preparation and service for 10+ on-site staff across a 4-day rotation every 10 days. This requires the ability to independently plan, prepare, and deliver quality, wide-ranging meals on time across all three services each day using a commercial kitchen.
- KSC 4 Food Safety, Hygiene & Kitchen Management - Demonstrated understanding of food safety requirements, kitchen hygiene standards, and compliance obligations as they apply to cooking and serving meals in a commercial or camp kitchen environment. Sound knowledge of safe food handling, storage, temperature control, and cleaning procedures. Holds, or is willing to obtain, a current food handling or food safety certificate.
- KSC 5 Physical Capacity, General Duties & Work Environment - Demonstrated ability to safely perform the sustained physical requirements of a combined cleaner and relief cook role, including lifting, bending, pushing, and prolonged periods of standing in both a cleaning and kitchen environment. Willingness to assist with dining room setup, site presentation, and light maintenance tasks as required.
- KSC 6 Communication, Teamwork & Self-Management - Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team without close supervision. Demonstrates reliability, self-motivation, and clear communication with team members and supervisors in a remote, live-in work environment. Ability to manage own schedule across dual cleaning and cooking responsibilities.
- KSC 7 Qualifications, Licences & Work Rights - Hold a current and valid Australian driver’s licence.
Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident with unrestricted rights to work in Australia. Note: applicants who cannot satisfy both requirements will not be progressed.
Desirable:
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate - Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or equivalent advanced food safety qualification.
- Rural or Remote Environment Experience - Previous experience in a rural, remote, or camp-style live-in work environment.
- First Aid / CPR Certification - Current First Aid and/or CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
