About the role The Clergy Life and Ministry Support Officer is an exciting chance to support our Clergy within the Diocese. The role holder will work collaboratively with the Director of Clergy Life and Ministry within the Diocesan Office Team to ensure a coordinated and proactive response to the changing health and wellbeing needs of our Priests. In order to discharge their duties in this role, a key component for the role holder will be to build confidential and trusting relationships with clergy to assist them to identify and address individual health and wellbeing needs and to engage effectively with them at all stages of life.
This is a permanent part-time role working 3 days a week.
The Clergy Life and Ministry Support Officer is responsible for:
- Coordinating clergy support and administration, including events, travel, medical appointments, claims, records and other administrative requirements
- Supporting the health, wellbeing and pastoral needs of clergy, particularly retired clergy, including facilitating access to medical, aged care, allied health and specialist services.
- Providing sensitive and confidential support, acting as a key point of contact for clergy and responding to emerging needs in collaboration with the Director of Clergy Life and Ministry.
What we're looking for
- An active participant in the Catholic Church or lifestyle aligned with Church values and teachings, with an understanding of the role of clergy
- Demonstrated pastoral, empathetic and relational approach, grounded in Catholic Social Teaching and the Diocesan Vision and Values
- Commitment to collaboration, servant leadership, confidentiality, and compassionate handling of sensitive matters
- A minimum five years’ experience in an administrative role
