Commercial Legal Counsel| 4 Month contract

Elevate has partnered with a top Australian law firm to appoint a Commercial Legal Counsel for Digital & Technology, Legal Operations and Advisory team, for an onward secondment role.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial lawyer to join a highly regarded in-house legal function and advise on a broad range of technology, digital, commercial, and strategic business initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing pragmatic legal advice while supporting innovation and business growth within a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strategic and commercially focused legal advice across a range of digital, technology, operational, and commercial matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of commercial agreements, including technology, SaaS, outsourcing, procurement, and service contracts.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks while enabling commercial outcomes.
- Support legal aspects of transformation, digital, and technology-led projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technology, Procurement, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Business Leadership.
- Contribute to legal operations initiatives and continuous improvement projects within the legal function.

Required Experience

- 5-10 years post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Strong background in commercial and corporate law, gained within a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal team.
- Experience advising on technology, digital, commercial contracting, and business operations matters.
- Financial services or banking experience will be viewed favourably but is not essential.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver practical, risk-based legal advice to senior stakeholders.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and collaborative setting.
