Farview Tavern, an iconic part of the Mackay community since 1981, located 11km from Mackay CBD is expanding its team and looking for a Commis Chef.

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their culinary skills in a fast-paced, qualified environment. You will assist senior chefs in food preparation, maintaining kitchen standards, and contribute to delivering high-quality dishes.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items under the supervision of senior chefs
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications as directed
- Prepare ingredients (chopping, peeling, marinating, etc.)
- Ensure proper storage and labelling of food items
- Support kitchen operations during service periods
- Clean and organize kitchen stations before, during, and after service
- Learn and develop new cooking techniques and skills

Requirements

- Basic culinary training or relevant certification (preferred)
- Previous kitchen experience is essential
- Strong willingness to learn and grow in a culinary career
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
