Cook Position – Authentic Flavours, Diverse Menu, Supportive Team

Cafe XOXO is established restaurant in the heart of Devonport. Our menu brings together Pakistani, Afghan, Korean and other Asian flavours alongside contemporary dishes.

We’re looking for an experienced Cook who has a with both Pakistani and Afghan cuisine who is confident preparing traditional dishes from raw ingredients.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands traditional spices, marinades, curries, rice dishes, kebabs and breads and can operate a high-temperature tandoor during busy service. Experience with Korean and other Asian cuisine would be a real advantage.

What you’ll be doing

- Preparing and cooking authentic Pakistani and Afghan dishes.
- Operating and controlling a high-temperature tandoor for breads, kebabs and meats.
- Checking the quality, flavour, portioning and presentation of meals.
- Assisting with food preparation, stock rotation and kitchen organisation.
- Maintaining food-safety, cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Working closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to provide an enjoyable dining experience.

What we’re looking for

- Demonstrated commercial experience preparing both Pakistani and Afghan cuisine.




- Experience operating a traditional high-temperature tandoor.
- Robust knowledge of traditional Pakistani and Afghan spice blends, marinades, curries, rice dishes, kebabs and breads.
- Ability to prepare dishes from raw ingredients and reproduce authentic flavours consistently.
- A relevant commercial cookery qualification or sufficient equivalent experience.
- Availability to work weekends and evenings as rostered.

Highly desirable

- Commercial experience preparing Korean cuisine, including Korean marinades, sauces, barbecue and high-temperature grilling.
- Experience preparing other East or Southeast Asian dishes.
- Experience working across a diverse, multicultural menu.
