Currently available within our Christian based aged care facility: Cook and Catering staff will ensure a supportive environment where residents are encouraged to express their food preferences and choice, whilst ensuring that food is nutritious and prepared while delivered in alignment with the appropriate standards.
Chef/Cook:
o Coordinated and participated in the preparation of high-quality, nutritious meals in line with Aged Care food service guidelines.
o Demonstrated strong understanding of ordering processes, council audits, and budget management.
o Prepared and managed specialised diets, including supplements and texture-modified meals to meet individual resident needs.
o Conducted and recorded temperature control checks for meals, cool rooms, and freezers to ensure food safety compliance.
o Promoted and maintained high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen compliance in accordance with regulations.
o Ensured the kitchen environment remains clean, organised, and well maintained, including proper care of all equipment.
Catering Staff:
o Work with Care team to plate and deliver meals,
ensuring familiarity with menus and the needs and preferences of individual residents within the Home are met.
o Ensure environmental service standards are met and maintained, and the resident’s living and dining environment is secure and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
o Ensuring that all duties are worked in accordance with the National Food Safety Program at all times including completing food safety records and the prevention of cross contamination.
o Must be familiar with: Diet types – Diet textures - Plating food in an appealing manner.
Essential Criteria:
o Certificate III in Cookery or above for Chef/Cook position.
o Aged care experience favourably looked upon.
o Great communication skills to meet the needs of residents.
o Flexible availability across a seven-day roster on days and afternoons.
o A high level of physical fitness.
o Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
o Ability to respect the confidentiality of information relating to Residents.
o Ability to seek and accept advice and assistance when required.
o Operate within the policies and procedures of Lutheran Homes Barossa.
o COVID and Influenza vaccinations highly recommended.
o Intermediate computer literate.
