We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will prepare and cook quality meals, maintain a clean and organised kitchen, follow food safety and hygiene standards, and assist with stock preparation and kitchen operations. Previous cooking experience two to four years is required, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Prepare, portion and cook a variety of food items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards and food safety requirements.
Operate and regulate ovens, grills, cooktops and other commercial cooking equipment, ensuring appropriate cooking temperatures are maintained. Measure, clean, chop, blend, season, heat and cool ingredients as required for food preparation. Monitor cooking processes, temperatures and timings to ensure food is cooked to the required standards of quality, consistency and presentation.
Season and adjust food during the cooking process to achieve the desired flavour, texture and presentation. Portion and plate meals attractively, adding appropriate gravies, sauces, garnishes and other accompaniments.
Prepare meals in accordance with special dietary requirements, including dietary restrictions and individual customer needs.
Store prepared food, ingredients and perishable products appropriately in temperature-controlled facilities to maintain freshness and food safety. Monitor food supplies, ingredients and kitchen equipment, maintaining appropriate stock levels and reporting purchasing requirements as necessary. Coordinate and collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and timely service.
Supervise and provide guidance and training to kitchen staff, apprentices and other team members where required. Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment in accordance with workplace health, safety and food hygiene standards. Clean, maintain and safely operate kitchen equipment, cooking appliances and utensils.
Assist with menu planning, recipe development and estimating food and ingredient requirements. Contribute to the development and testing of new recipes, dishes and menu items. Ensure all food preparation and cooking activities comply with established recipes, presentation standards, quality requirements and food safety procedures.
Qualification & experience Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality, or a related field, such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification. Demonstrated relevant 2-4 years experience in a commercial kitchen environment. Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety practices.
Ability to operate and safely use commercial kitchen equipment Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment and manage multiple tasks while maintaining food quality and presentation.
