Role Description The CPAP Consult role is a part-time, on-site position based in Eastwood, NSW. In this role, the team member provides face-to-face consultations to patients who are starting or currently using CPAP therapy, explaining treatment options, equipment usage, care, and troubleshooting common issues. Day-to-day tasks include conducting CPAP fittings, reviewing therapy data, educating patients on mask and device maintenance, and answering clinical and practical questions about sleep apnea management under appropriate supervision.
The role also involves documenting consultations accurately, coordinating follow-up appointments, and liaising with referring clinicians or internal staff to support continuity of care.
The CPAP Consult team member helps ensure that patients feel supported, informed, and confident in their CPAP therapy, contributing to improved adherence and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience or solid interest in sleep health, respiratory therapy, or related patient care activities is highly regarded.
- Ability to provide clear, empathetic patient education on CPAP equipment use, maintenance, and therapy expectations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening and the ability to build patient trust.
- Basic technical aptitude for operating CPAP devices, reading therapy reports, and troubleshooting equipment issues. Training cis provided.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentation and record-keeping.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small healthcare team and follow established medical and ethical standards.
- Organizational and time-management skills to manage appointments, follow-ups, and patient queries efficiently.
- Previous experience in sleep clinics, respiratory care, nursing, or allied health is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Relevant healthcare, science, or allied health training or certification is an advantage.
- Commitment to ongoing learning about sleep disorders, CPAP technology, and evidence-based patient care.
