Strait Up Cranes & Rigging is looking for an experienced Crane Mechanic / Heavy Diesel Fitter to join our team in Mudgee, Central West NSW.

This is a new position within our business and an excellent opportunity for an experienced tradesperson to take an important role in maintaining and supporting our growing fleet of mobile cranes and associated heavy equipment.

We are looking for someone with strong heavy diesel fitting experience, ideally combined with experience maintaining mobile cranes or similar heavy plant. You will need to be confident diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults and capable of working independently when required.

About the Role

Based primarily in Mudgee, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of our crane fleet and associated equipment.

The position will include a combination of workshop-based maintenance and field work, including attending client sites to assist with breakdowns, repairs and servicing when required.

Key responsibilities include:

· Carrying out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on mobile cranes and associated heavy equipment

· Diagnosing and repairing diesel engine, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults

· Troubleshooting equipment faults and undertaking breakdown repairs

· Inspecting cranes and equipment to identify defects and maintenance requirements

· Reading and interpreting hydraulic and electrical information





· Assisting with preventative maintenance planning to maximise fleet reliability and availability

· Attending breakdowns and maintenance requirements at client and mine sites when required

· Completing service records, inspection reports and maintenance documentation

· Maintaining a high standard of workmanship, housekeeping and equipment care

· Working closely with our operations team to minimise equipment downtime

· Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with OEM and site requirements

About You

We are particularly interested in applicants with a heavy diesel fitting background and demonstrated experience working on heavy mobile equipment.

Ideally, you will have:

· A relevant Crane Mechanic, Heavy Diesel Fitter, Diesel Mechanic or equivalent trade qualification

· Demonstrated experience servicing and repairing heavy diesel equipment

· Strong mechanical and hydraulic diagnostic and fault-finding skills

· Sound electrical fault-finding capabilities

· Experience reading hydraulic and electrical information

· Experience working on mobile cranes, articulated cranes or similar heavy plant will be highly regarded

· Strong troubleshooting and practical problem-solving skills

· Current Australian Driver Licence

· A strong commitment to workplace health and safety

· Good communication and organisational skills





· A reliable and professional approach to your work

· The ability to work independently as well as part of a team

· Willingness to attend site breakdowns and work additional hours when operationally required

Previous experience specifically working with cranes is highly regarded, however, we encourage experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters with a strong heavy plant background to apply even if you have not previously specialised in cranes.
