Some bar jobs are more about keeping the fridges stocked. This one is about building deeply engaging weekly experiences in a large scale established arts venue.

Superordinary is a 1,700m² warehouse along with a 3,100m² outdoor courtyard on the river at Northshore Hamilton - reclaimed for art, music, events and studios by Vast Yonder, the team behind the Brisbane Street Art Festival. One weekend it's drum & bass, the next it's roller derby, an exhibition opening, a night market. The bar sits in the middle of all of it, and our weekend nights are starting to become their own thing.

The gig - equal parts:

- Bar manager. Own Friday and Saturday nights (more nights likely as things grow). Stock, set-up, service, staff, close. You'll pour drinks too - this is a sleeves-up role, not a clipboard one.
- Programmer. Help decide what actually happens on those nights - DJs, live acts, launches, ideas we haven't thought of yet. Real say, not a suggestion box.
- Promoter. Make sure Brisbane knows. Socials, posters, word of mouth, getting the right people in the room. You'll have the wider Vast Yonder network - artists, musicians, festival people - to draw on, and it's yours to activate.

You might be





Someone who's run bars or events before and got itchy doing only one of them. A hospitality lifer with a promoter's brain, or a creative with an RSA. You know Brisbane's scene - or the scene you think it's missing. You're organised enough to close a till and imaginative enough to get your head around social media. You'll need a current QLD RSA (or be ready to get one before starting) and to be free Friday and Saturday nights.

The deal

Casual to start, 2–3 nights a week, at Superordinary - 175 MacArthur Ave, Northshore Hamilton. The regular opening hours are recent for the venue: grow them and it grows with you. This is the ground floor of something, on purpose.
