Role Description The Data Analyst (Entry / Junior) will support data-driven decision-making across SFARD’s rural development programs. This part-time, hybrid role is based in Sydney, NSW, with a combination of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility.
Day-to-day responsibilities include collecting, cleaning, and organizing program data, performing basic analyses, and preparing reports and visual summaries for internal and external stakeholders. The role involves assisting in the design of simple data models, supporting monitoring and evaluation activities, and collaborating with project teams to interpret findings for program improvement. The analyst will also help maintain accurate documentation of datasets and contribute to continuous enhancement of data quality and reporting processes.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills and foundational Data Analytics capabilities.
- Candidates should possess practical knowledge of Statistics and the ability to apply statistical concepts to real-world data.
- Candidates should possess skills in Data Modeling and basic understanding of database or spreadsheet structures.
- Candidates should possess transparent and effective Communication skills, including the ability to present data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Basic proficiency in tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, or similar data tools is beneficial.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) or programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is an advantage.
- A diploma or degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Interest in rural development, social impact, or the non-profit sector and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment are highly valued.
