Job Summary/Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer to support scalable, secure and reliable data solutions. This is a long-term contract opportunity with a likely chance of extension. Sydney is preferred, with other locations considered. Hybrid working requires 3 days per week in the office.

Applicants must hold a current NV1 AGSVA security clearance. Applicants without NV1 clearance will not be considered.

Detailed

As a Database Engineer, you will design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions across secure data environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions
- Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes across multiple data sources
- Work with data architects, analysts and downstream consumers to deliver reliable data solutions
- Implement batch and near-real-time data processing solutions
- Maintain data quality, reliability and platform performance
- Support cloud-based data platforms, data lakes and data warehouses
- Apply data security, privacy and access control requirements




- Troubleshoot data pipeline failures and performance issues
- Support automation, monitoring and continuous improvement

Required Skills & Experience

- 5 years' experience in Data Engineering or similar data-focused engineering roles
- Strong ETL/ELT and data pipeline orchestration experience
- Strong SQL skills with relational and NoSQL database experience
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse or equivalent
- Experience with structured and semi-structured data
- Knowledge of data modelling and performance optimisation
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Solid analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Location & Working Arrangements

Sydney preferred, with other locations considered. Hybrid working arrangement with 3 days per week in the office.
