The Company
For the last 30 years, our client has manufactured purpose-built pumping systems designed to their client’s requirements and specifications, with a proven reputation for quality, reliability, and service. They supply to a wide range of clients across the Mining, Oil & Gas, Construction, Heavy Industry, and Utilities sectors.
Due to continued growth within their workshop and off-site repairs division, they are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic or Mechanical Fitter to join their team based in Canning Vale.
The Role
This is a hands-on, workshop-based position carrying out the inspection, servicing, fault finding, repair and refurbishment of a range of diesel-powered equipment used throughout the mining industry. Working alongside the service, projects and quality teams, you will be responsible for ensuring equipment is serviced, repaired, tested and ready for mobilisation to site.
Equipment will include diesel generators, pumps, trailers and associated mine-spec equipment, with duties including:
- Diagnosing and repairing diesel-powered generators ranging from 10kVA to 1250kVA
- Carrying out fault finding and diagnostics across diesel engines and associated equipment
- Completing preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Engine, alternator and generator control system fault finding
- Mechanical repairs, overhauls and equipment refurbishments
- Servicing and repairing trailers, braking systems, suspension, air brakes, hubs and bearings
- Inspecting and repairing towing equipment and associated components
- Completing pre-delivery inspections and quality assurance testing
- Reading and interpreting technical manuals and wiring diagrams
- Completing service reports and job documentation
- Maintaining a clean,
organised and safe workshop environment
The Candidate
Our client is seeking a trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter or similar with robust mechanical fault finding and repair experience. To be considered for the position, candidates will ideally possess:
- Relevant Australian-recognised mechanical trade qualification
- Minimum 5 years post-trade experience
- Experience servicing and repairing diesel engines and mechanical equipment
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs
- Ability to read technical manuals and diagrams
- Good attention to detail and quality of workmanship
- Ability to work autonomously and within a workshop team
- Strong commitment to workplace safety
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
The following will be highly regarded
- Experience working with diesel generators, pumps, rotating equipment or mine-spec equipment
- Previous exposure to engines including Cummins, Perkins, Kubota, Volvo, Yanmar, Deutz, John Deere or CAT
- Experience with Deep Sea Electronics (DSE), ComAp or similar generator control systems
- High Risk Work Licences including Forklift, Dogging or Rigging
Working Days, Hours, Location & Duration
- Working Days: Monday to Friday
- Working Hours: 7.00am – 3.30pm
- Overtime: As required
- Location: Canning Vale
- Duration: Project based with potential for a temp – perm opportunity
Remuneration
Depending on previous work experience, technical expertise, and qualifications, remuneration will vary from;
- $50.00 - $60.00 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)
- Overtime
- Superannuation
- Paid Weekly
