About Meg’s Care Team

Meg’s Care Team provides highly personalised, person-centred support to Meg, a young teenage woman with complex physical disability who requires 24-hour care. The team works within a self-managed NDIS environment and is committed to consistent, skilled and compassionate support that enables Meg to live a meaningful, connected and fulfilling life. Meg is currently studying Certificate 1 in Transition Education at Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE, Wodonga. She has completed 10 years of education at mainstream primary and secondary government schools in Victoria.

Care Team Manager – With Development Pathway Position The Care Team Manager is a hybrid leadership, coordination and direct support role. The successful applicant will progressively take responsibility for the day-to-day management of Meg’s care environment following a structured transition which will include hands-on support.

Essential Criteria





· Experience in disability, health, community services, care coordination or a related field

· Experience working with people and coordinating services

· Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills

· Excellent relationship-building skills

· Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

· Strong computer literacy

· Willingness to undertake direct disability support work

Desirable

· Diploma or Certificate IV+ in Disability, Community Services or a related field

· Experience with complex physical disability

· Experience within a self-managed NDIS environment

· Experience with rostering, payroll

· Experience in small-team leadership

· Experience with alternative communication systems (AAC), PEG feeding, complex health needs

Disability Support Worker Position

Trainee Disability Support Worker Position

You will be assisting the senior DSWs and Meg’s family to enhance the life of Meg through youthful engagement and connection. You will help them provide personal care for Meg and ensure her home environment is healthy, clean and tidy.

Preparing Meg for community participation is a vital aspect for her happiness and therefore your position.

Qualities needed

· Patience

· Effective communication skills

· Great organisational skills

· Empathy, the ability to be able to demonstrate and provide care even in difficult situations

· Ability to take direction and also work independently when needed

· Ability to form and build solid professional relationships

· Fitness to safely assist with Meg’s manual movements and hoist assisted manual handling

During your traineeship, at no cost to you, you will complete a Certificate III in Individual Support at Wodonga TAFE and be paid while you study. Once you have satisfactorily completed the certificate and are deemed competent, you will be able to work individually as an experienced DSW.

Current WWCC Current NDIS Worker Screening Check

Current Driving licence

Current First Aid Level 2 and CPR Certificates

Compliance with all aspects of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
