Excellent verbal English communication skills are essential to effectively support participants and ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being.

Key responsibilities

1. Provide personal care and support to clients including assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing and toileting

2. Support clients with mobility and physical assistance, using safe manual handling techniques

3. Assist with meal preparation, shopping and household tasks as required

4. Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, promoting social engagement and wellbeing

5. Maintain accurate and timely records of client care activities and any changes in client conditions

6. Communicate effectively with clients, their families and the broader care team about support provided and client progress

7. Assist with medication administration (will need certificate) in accordance with service protocols

8. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and infection control practices

9. Report any concerns regarding client welfare, safety or wellbeing to supervisors promptly

10. Contribute to a safe and respectful environment that upholds client rights and dignity

What we're looking for

1. A relevant qualification such as a Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent aged care or disability support qualification - or someone who is working towards

2. Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain this

3. Experience working in aged care, disability support or a similar community care setting

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients

5. Compassion, patience and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals

6. Physical capability to assist clients with mobility and personal care tasks

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

8. Reliable and punctual with a professional approach to work
9. A current Working with Vulnerable People clearance or willingness to obtain one

10. Flexibility to work casual hours, including potential early mornings, evenings and weekends as required

11. Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to maintain client confidentiality
