About the role
As a Disability Support Worker, you'll provide person-centred support that helps participants live their lives with greater independence, confidence and choice. You'll build meaningful relationships, support people to achieve their goals, and help them participate in everyday life and their local community.
Key responsibilities
- Build positive, respectful and trusting relationships with participants.
- Provide person-centred support based on individual needs, goals, preferences and support plans.
- Assist with everyday activities and routines to assist people to develop independent living and employability skills.
- Encourage participants to develop independence, confidence and life skills.
- Support participants to access their local community, social activities, education and employment opportunities.
- Work alongside participants to support them to achieve their individual goals and aspirations.
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, support coordinators and other members of the support team.
- Complete accurate case notes, documentation and required reporting.
- Maintain participant privacy, confidentiality, dignity and choice at all times.
- Follow NDIS, organisational, health and safety, and safeguarding requirements.
About you
- Compassionate, patient and genuinely passionate about supporting people with disability.
- Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Respectful of individual differences, choices, cultures, goals and personal preferences.
- Able to remain calm,
patient and skilled when faced with challenging or unexpected situations.
- Motivated to support people to build independence rather than doing everything for them.
- Organised and able to complete documentation and follow individual support plans.
- Trustworthy and committed to maintaining participant privacy and confidentiality.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work flexibly across a range of support environments.
- Able to travel between participant locations and community activities where required.
- A team player who is willing to learn, receive feedback and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
