The Western Sydney University School of Arts invites applications for its recent Distinguished International Visiting Scholars Program. In 2027, two positions will be supported with fully funded international travel, accommodation and living expenses for up to four to six weeks. Research in the School of Arts is organised across six Research Nodes, which represent the research strengths of current staff:
Arts and Technology
Visual Culture and Design Futures
Humanities, Health and Science
Power, Culture and Global Society
Music, Performance and Creative Practice
Languages, Linguistics and Intercultural Communication The successful applicants will be highly qualified experts conducting internationally recognised, impactful research that speaks directly to one or more of these Research Nodes. Along with developing relationships with ongoing staff and participating in research events, the Distinguished International Visiting Scholars will be expected to deliver at least one public lecture and a four-session master class for staff and HDR students on a topic related to their current research.
The Western Sydney University School of Arts is home to a dynamic research environment that spans across the traditional humanities, design, communication, linguistics and the creative arts, including music, visual art, and creative writing. It is home to the prestigious Writing and Society Research Centre and has close relationships with the Institute for Culture and Society and the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development.
The Distinguished International Visiting Scholars Program is designed to advance the research reputation of the School and to establish robust international networks between staff and external scholars.

[email protected]) by no later than September 30, 2026 . Successful applicants will be informed by October 31, 2026. The exact dates and details of the visit will be worked out between the Dean and the Visiting Scholar upon approval.
