Q Workforce Solutions Pty Ltd – Thomastown VIC
Duration: Approximately 3 months - likely to become permanent
Hours: Monday–Friday - 6am start - 2.30pm finish (core hours) but up to 10 hours per day if required
Base rate: $50 - 60/hour (gross exclusive of super) - would only pay the higher end if they are a heavy diesel mechanic
With drilling experience.

Requirements:
Experience as a
Mobile Plant Mechanic
Mining/Drilling Mechanic
Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with substantial plant experience
Need HR licence and Fork Lift Licence as well.
Preferred: Experience with drilling rigs, compressors, pumps, hydraulic systems and associated plant
Reporting to the Senior Mechanic who is acting up as we are currently recruiting a Maintenance Manager.
There is a fabricator/fitter in the maintenance team as well.
Mechanical Maintenance
Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance on diesel-powered drilling rigs, heavy vehicles, plant and equipment.
Diagnose, repair and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, cooling systems and electrical systems.
Conduct mechanical inspections and identify faults before they result in equipment breakdowns.
Carry out breakdown repairs and respond promptly to equipment failures.
Perform servicing and repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company maintenance procedures.
Maintain and repair drilling rigs and associated equipment, including pumps, compressors, generators and auxiliary equipment.
Undertake repairs and maintenance on excavators, loaders, forklifts, light vehicles, trucks and other mobile plant as required.
Inspect hydraulic hoses, fittings, cylinders, pumps, motors and associated hydraulic components.
Undertake basic electrical fault-finding and repairs where appropriately qualified.
Drilling Equipment
Assist with diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic faults affecting drilling performance.
Carry out inspections of drilling equipment and identify potential mechanical or safety issues.
Work closely with senior mechanic to identify equipment faults and minimise downtime.
Ensure critical drilling equipment is maintained and available for operation.
Respond to breakdowns and provide field-based mechanical support when required.
Assist with mobilisation, demobilisation and preparation of drilling equipment.
Maintain workshop tools, equipment and machinery in positive working order.
Assist with major component changes, equipment rebuilds and refurbishment projects.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
Complete pre-start inspections and ensure defects are reported and appropriately actioned.
Ensure machinery is safe to return to service following maintenance or repair.
Comply with relevant workplace health and safety legislation and company procedures.
Correctly use personal protective equipment, tools, lifting equipment and workshop machinery.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and work area.
