Duty Manager — Live Music, Late Night & Events

Doors in twenty. The rooftop is three deep at the bar and the amphitheatre opens in an hour. Somewhere in all of that, one person is holding the line.

That’s the role.

Spiegelhaus is Melbourne’s home of arts, culture, live spectacle and late nights: a 100-year-old Spiegeltent, a multi-level rooftop with multiple bars and event spaces, and an amphitheatre-style live music and DJ venue for up to 1,200. On a big night more than 2,000 guests move through the venue across multiple experiences at once.

We had a solid first season. Season two launches September 2026, and we’re building the layer of leaders who run the floor when it counts.

What you’ll run

Bars, rooftop, amphitheatre and event spaces. You are the final on-floor decision-maker for your shift — you can comp, refund, refuse service, call emergency services.

- Brief the team, set the focus, lead from the floor through peak.
- Run service flow, pace and close-down across every bar trading that night.
- Allocate sections and breaks. Move labour as trade moves.
- Own RSA on the floor: refusals, ID, intoxication, capacity.
- Work with security on queues, crowd movement and egress.
- Manage stock movement, transfers and wastage.
- Own guest recovery through to resolution. File incidents within 24 hours.
- Reconcile, bank, hand over.
- Coach bartenders and supervisors in the moment.

What you’ll bring

- Experience running shifts in a high-volume bar or late-night venue — as a Duty Manager,

or a Supervisor ready to step up.
- A current Victorian RSA. First Aid or Food Safety Supervisor a plus.
- The confidence to make the call, and the judgement to know what to escalate.
- Comfort with cash, and the discipline to get the paperwork right at 2am.
- Availability across seven-day trade, nights and weekends.

Casual or fixed-term full-time

Both are on the table. Casual gives you flexible shifts and loading. Fixed-term full-time gives you guaranteed hours, a consistent roster and a full run at the season. Tell us which you’re after when you apply.

Where it goes

Duty Manager is the step before Assistant Venue Manager, by design. The DMs who hold the floor and develop their people are the ones who move into those seats. We’d rather grow them than advertise for them.

There is nowhere else quite like this venue. If you thrive on complexity and like bringing a team with you, we’d love to hear from you.

Why Spiegel Haus

Spiegel Haus brings together theatre, music, hospitality and culture under one roof. There is nowhere else quite like it.

This isn’t a venue that hosts one event at a time. It’s a venue where multiple experiences operate simultaneously, each demanding the same standard of execution, leadership and guest experience.

If you’re an operational leader who thrives on complexity, enjoys building exceptional teams and delivering unforgettable guest experiences, we’d love to hear from you.
