ABOUT THE ROLE

With continual growth and exciting projects in the pipeline to close out 2026 and commence 2027, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team.

As the Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for road construction projects, from initial enquiry through to award. You will work closely with the General Manager, project delivery team and subcontractors to ensure every tender reflects true project scope, cost and risk.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is thorough under deadline pressure, confident pricing complex construction works, and comfortable being the person whose numbers the business builds its bids on.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the General Manager, your daily tasks will include but not be limited to:

• Prepare accurate, competitive estimates and tender submissions for road construction projects, from initial enquiry through to final submission.

• Undertake detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications, and build up comprehensive cost breakdowns covering labour, plant, materials and subcontract works.

• Source, evaluate and negotiate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring scope alignment and value for money.

• Review and interpret tender documentation, identify commercial and technical risks, and raise clarifications with clients as needed.

• Prepare tender submissions to a high standard within tight deadlines, including pricing schedules, methodology, programme and supporting documentation.

• Liaise closely with Project Engineers,



Project Managers and site teams to ensure estimates reflect practical, deliverable construction methods.

• Maintain and continually improve cost databases and benchmark rates for labour, plant and materials to sharpen estimating accuracy over time.

• Attend site visits, pre-tender briefings and clarification meetings as required.

• Support a clean handover of awarded projects to the delivery team, ensuring cost assumptions, scope and risk items are clearly documented and understood.

ABOUT YOU

• A minimum of 3 years' proven experience as an Estimator in the road, civil or broader construction industry.

• Tertiary qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

• Robust working knowledge of construction methods, and current labour, plant and materials costs.

• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel, with strong numerical and analytical skills.

• High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tenders concurrently under deadline pressure.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills for engaging with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

• Deadline focused, proficient in planning, organising, and working to timelines.
