As Halbuild enters its next stage of growth, we are looking for an experienced Estimator who wants more than simply pricing tenders. About the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with our Pre-Construction and Delivery teams, the Estimator will take ownership of the estimating and pricing function across Halbuild’s tender pipeline.

For the right person, this role offers significant autonomy. You will have the opportunity to review, improve and ultimately build Halbuild’s estimating systems, processes and workflows from the ground up, with the support and investment required to do it properly.

As the business grows, we see this position developing beyond a standalone estimating role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help build and lead an estimating team, influence the technology and systems we adopt, and play a meaningful role in Halbuild’s broader pre-construction strategy.

Your role will require you to:

- Manage the end-to-end estimating and pricing process from initial tender review through to final submission.
- Prepare accurate, competitive and commercially considered estimates across fit-out, refurbishment, remediation and government construction projects.
- Complete detailed quantity take-offs, BOQs, trade breakdowns and cost plans.




- Prepare and issue subcontractor and supplier trade packages and analyse returned quotations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and key industry partners.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes and tender documentation to identify risks, opportunities, exclusions and clarification requirements.
- Work with the Managing Director and project teams to develop tender strategy, methodology, value engineering opportunities and commercial positioning.
- Undertake tender handovers to project delivery teams following successful awards.
- Identify and implement improvements to estimating systems, technology, templates and processes.
- Help establish a scalable estimating function capable of supporting Halbuild’s continued growth.
- As the business expands, assist in recruiting, developing and leading additional estimating resources.

About You We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, technically capable and comfortable taking ownership of their function.

You may already be an experienced Estimator looking for greater autonomy, or someone ready to step into a position where you can build something rather than inherit a rigid estimating structure.

We’re looking for someone who has:

- Minimum 2+ years’ estimating experience within commercial construction and refurbishment.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodology, tendering, cost estimating and trade procurement.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed take-offs, cost plans and tender submissions.
- Strong understanding of subcontractor markets and trade package procurement.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural and services documentation accurately.




- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to identify tender risks and opportunities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership of estimating outcomes.
- An interest in improving systems, adopting new technology and developing more efficient ways of working.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Full Australian working rights and a current NSW driver’s licence.
- Ability to obtain NSW Police Clearance and Defence security access requirements, including DCAC.
