Please note:

- This opportunity is a fixed-term, 6-month contract.
- Applications are only being accepted from candidates who currently reside in South Australia. Due to the nature of these opportunities, interstate applications will not be considered.

About the Opportunity

Our Excavator and Loader Operators play an significant role in supporting mining production through the safe and efficient operation of loaders, excavators and other mobile plant. The role requires a high level of operational competency, sound decision-making and the ability to work independently while maintaining strong safety, productivity and equipment care standards.

This role operates on a rotating roster of 8 days on, 6 days off, followed by 7 nights on, 7 days off.

Responsibilities

- Safely operate loaders, excavators and other mobile plant in a mining environment.
- Select appropriate equipment and operating techniques for each task.
- Conduct pre-start inspections and identify hazards or equipment defects.
- Operate machinery efficiently to support production targets.
- Adapt to changing site conditions and operational priorities.
- Report equipment faults, hazards and maintenance requirements promptly.




- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and equipment care.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and fellow operators.
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced operators where required.
- Follow all site procedures and BHP safety standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across safety, productivity and equipment performance.

What We're Looking For

Essential

- Current C Class Driver's Licence.
- Demonstrated experience operating excavators and/or loaders in a mining or civil environment.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in changing conditions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing.

Desirable

- Experience operating additional mobile plant such as dump trucks, water carts, dozers or graders.
- Experience across a range of mining equipment.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Sound mechanical understanding of heavy equipment.
- Previous experience working across multiple mine sites.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting or mentoring less experienced operators.
