Tertiary Family Intervention Service Family Support Worker – Immediate Start

Full time role, ongoing.

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Tertiary Family Intervention Service Family Support Worker to join our Tertiary Family Intervention Service program. This role works alongside families experiencing complex and multiple challenges, providing intensive, in-home support aimed at improving child safety, wellbeing, and family functioning.

As a Tertiary Family Intervention Service Family Support Worker, you will deliver practical and therapeutic interventions that strengthen parenting capacity, build family resilience, and support families to achieve sustainable positive outcomes. You will work collaboratively with children, parents, carers, community services, and statutory agencies to ensure the best outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

The Tertiary Family Intervention Service Family Support Worker will be required to work occasional weekdays after hours and Saturdays. Travel to outreach locations will be necessary.

- Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award 2010 (SCHADS) Level 4

The tasks of the role include:

- Deliver intensive, strengths-based family support services to families with complex needs.
- Complete home visits and outreach activities in accordance with service requirements.




- Conduct comprehensive assessments and contribute to case planning and goal setting.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging sessions that promote family bonding, child development, social interaction, physical activities, creativity, and healthy eating.
- Participate in case reviews, consultations, and reflective practice discussions.
- Work collaboratively with Child Safety, education, health, housing, and other community stakeholders.
- Support parents to develop skills in child development, attachment, behaviour management, routines, and family relationships.
- Provide personalised support to families, collaboratively identifying the family challenges, strengths, and goals.
- Working with the family in addressing their unique needs and challenges and fostering positive parenting practices.
- Establish rapport with families, create a safe and welcoming environment, and encourage active participation in program activities.
- Gather and enter clear and concise relevant data related to client program participation, outcomes, and impact in accordance with reporting requirements.

The essential licenses, skills and experience for the role are:

- Must have a 'C' class driver's license.
- Must have a Working with Children (Blue Card).

The essential qualifications and skills for the role are:

- Qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Community Services, Psychology, Welfare, or a related discipline or significant experience of more than 2 years in one of the related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience working with families experiencing vulnerability and complex needs.
- Knowledge of child protection principles, child development, and family-centred practice.




- Strong assessment, engagement, and case management skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with children, young people, and families experiencing vulnerability and complex needs.
- Well-developed verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and community groups, work successfully in a small team, and maintain broad professional networks.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365 programs, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Capacity to work in a highly functional team environment.
