About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Female Disability Support Worker to provide person-centred support to an individual with complex mental health support needs. This role requires a confident, patient, and proactive professional who can effectively implement behaviour support strategies, respond to challenging situations, and build a strong rapport with the client.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred support in line with care and behaviour support plans
- Implement behaviour support strategies in a safe and consistent manner
- Support the implementation of regulated restrictive practices in accordance with approved Behaviour Support Plans and relevant legislation
- Assist with daily living activities and community participation
- Support skill development and structured routines
- Assistance with medication administration
- Provide social, recreational, and educational support to enhance quality of life
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in line with organisational requirements
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other stakeholders
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the client at all times
About you
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability) or Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours
- Minimum 2-3 years experience working with people with complex care needs
- Sound understanding of restrictive practices and ability to implement them in line with Behaviour Support Plans (BSP)
- Essential experience managing behaviours of concerns
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport
- Strong written communication skills to ensure appropriate handover and documentation
- A versatile, patient, and compassionate approach
- Commitment to upholding the rights, dignity, and independence of people with disabilities
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) – ACT
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Valid Australian working rights
