An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join an established private investment company with a diversified portfolio spanning property, private credit, equities, private equity and operating businesses.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Manager will play a key leadership role within the finance function, acting as 2IC across the day-to-day finance operations.
This is a hands-on leadership position suited to a technically strong finance professional who enjoys broad responsibility and wants genuine ownership across financial reporting, consolidation, tax, audit, fund finance, business parting and team leadership.
The Opportunity The Finance Manager will oversee the delivery of the Group's finance function across a complex multi-entity structure, ensuring high-quality and timely financial information is provided to senior management and the Board.
Key responsibilities will include
- Leading the day-to-day finance function and managing a team of four finance professionals.
- Owning the month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting cycles.
- Managing Group consolidation across multiple entities, including intercompany eliminations.
- Preparing and reviewing consolidated management accounts, P&L; and balance sheet reporting.
- Maintaining strong balance sheet integrity and financial controls across the Group.
- Reviewing technical accounting matters and providing recommendations to senior management.
- Managing the annual audit process and relationships with external auditors.
- Overseeing the Group's tax compliance, including income tax, BAS and GST requirements.
- Providing oversight of fund accounting, administration and investor distributions.
- Reviewing SPV distributions and ensuring appropriate processes and controls are maintained.
- Managing reporting and compliance across trusts, investment entities and other Group structures.
- Leading, developing and mentoring the finance team, including offshore team members.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, systems and reporting across the finance function.
About You
We are seeking a CA/CPA-qualified finance qualified with strong technical accounting skills and experience operating in a complex, multi-entity environment.
You will ideally bring
- 7 years' experience across accounting and finance, ideally including a period within a private investment group, family office, funds management, property, private equity or similarly diversified environment.
- Strong experience across financial reporting, consolidations and month-end processes.
- Experience managing external audit and tax advisers.
- Exposure to investment structures, trusts, SPVs, funds or distribution processes will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a finance team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of financial controls.
- The ability to operate comfortably at both a strategic and hands-on level.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work closely with senior management and external advisers.
- A proactive, commercially minded approach and the ability to take ownership of issues through to resolution.
