Melbourne’s leading Garden and Building Supplies business, C Fulton, is currently looking for a skilled Forklift Driver to join our team based in Hawthorn.

About the Role

As a Forklift Driver, you’ll play a key part in keeping our operations running smoothly. You’ll be responsible for safely moving bulk materials, timber, palletised goods, and landscaping supplies across our site – helping ensure customers and deliveries are handled efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties and Responsibilities

- Operates a forklift to move bulk materials, containers, crates, palletised goods, cartons and bales.
- Operating controls to align forklifts and raise and lower forks to stack and unstack items in warehouses, factories, timber yards and shipping terminals.
- Transporting goods to designated areas in warehouses, factories, timber yards and shipping terminals.
- Ensuring goods are stored in correct areas so that they can be easily located when orders are made up.
- Monitoring equipment operation visually through gauges and instruments and through computerised monitoring equipment.
- Inspecting and controlling equipment to identify wear and damage.
- Servicing and performing minor repairs and adjustments to forklifts.
- May operate specialised trucks to carry items beneath elevated frames.

Skill & Experience

Material Transportation: Operating controls to align forklifts and raise/lower forks to stack and unstack items. This includes moving goods between receiving, storage, and dispatch zones.



This also involves loading bulker bags and loading/unloading of transport vehicles.

Loading and Unloading: Safely removing goods from delivery trucks and loading outgoing freight. Fulton’s forklift drivers also assist where required to load tipper trucks and push up stock piles using wheel loader equipment.

Inventory Management: Verifying inventory counts, scanning stock using digital equipment, and documenting material movements to ensure records are accurate.

Safety Compliance: Conducting daily “pre-start” checks on brakes, steering, and fluid levels to ensure the machine is safe for use. Operators must adhere to strict site traffic plans and exclusion zones to protect pedestrians.

Maintenance: Performing minor repairs and adjustments to forklifts, such as refuelling or changing batteries, and reporting major issues to supervisors.

Key Skills and Qualifications

- Licensing: In Australia, a valid LF high-risk work licence is typically a legal requirement. May require a Conduct civil construction wheeled front end loader operations licence.
- Precision and Spatial Awareness: Ability to navigate narrow aisles and judge distances and heights accurately when stacking loads on high racking.
- Physical Stamina: Capacity to lift heavy items (often 10–25kg) and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Attention to Detail: Vigilance in monitoring load stability and identifying potential workplace hazards.

Work Environment

- Environment: Drivers work in various conditions, from indoor warehouses to outdoor concrete loading areas.
