Programmed is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our client's food industry operations in Salisbury. This is a casual position offering flexibility whilst providing essential support to a dynamic food production and logistics environment. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of goods, materials and products throughout the warehouse and production facility, playing a crucial role in maintaining smooth operations and meeting production timelines.
What you'll be doing
- Operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with workplace health and safety standards
- Loading and unloading goods from delivery vehicles, storage areas and production lines
- Transporting materials, products and equipment throughout the warehouse and production facility
- Stacking and organising goods in designated storage areas, maintaining clear labelling and stock rotation practices
- Performing routine maintenance checks on forklift equipment and reporting any defects or maintenance requirements
- Adhering strictly to food industry hygiene and safety protocols to maintain product integrity
- Communicating effectively with warehouse and production team members to coordinate material movements
- Maintaining accurate records of goods movements and inventory as required
- Supporting general warehouse housekeeping and organisation to ensure a safe, clean working environment
What we're looking for
- Current and valid forklift licence (essential)
- Demonstrated experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or industrial environment
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety practices
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Physical fitness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in the food industry or similar production environment is advantageous
- Reliability and punctuality, particularly important for casual shift work
- Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Experience operating gas and/or electric forklifts is desirable.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment and comply with the company's zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
