About the role

Bantr Cafe is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations and culinary vision. This is a casual position based in Palm Beach, QLD 4221, where you will oversee food preparation, maintain our high standards of quality and presentation, and inspire a passionate team dedicated to creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

What you'll be doing

- Planning and executing diverse menus that reflect current culinary trends and seasonal ingredients available in the Palm Beach area

- Supervising and training kitchen staff, ensuring consistent adherence to food safety, hygiene and presentation standards

- Managing kitchen inventory, food ordering and stock rotation to minimise waste and control costs

- Preparing and cooking dishes to the highest standard, maintaining consistency across all menu items

- Collaborating with management to develop new dishes and refine existing recipes based on customer feedback

- Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment that complies with all health and safety regulations

- Monitoring portion sizes and plating presentations to ensure brand consistency

- Responding to customer preferences and dietary requirements with flexibility and professionalism

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a busy cafe, restaurant or hospitality environment

- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices and health and safety regulations in food preparation

- Excellent culinary skills with the ability to prepare a variety of cuisines and dietary requirements

- Leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to motivate and develop junior kitchen staff





- Outstanding organisational and time-management skills, particularly in high-pressure service periods

- Passion for quality ingredients and innovative cooking techniques

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house staff and management

- Relevant culinary qualifications or extensive demonstrated experience in a professional kitchen environment

- Knowledge of costing and menu planning would be advantageous
