Lead the delivery of Australia's next generation of grid-scale battery storage.
Our client is a global investor developing and operating renewable energy assets around the world. They've got an Australian pipeline of utility-scale energy projects, anchored by flagship storage projects that are now moving into construction.
They're after a Head of Utility Delivery who can take full accountability for getting this pipeline built, from FID through construction and commissioning, all the way to Commercial Operation Date.
What you'll own:
You'll be accountable for schedule, cost, quality and safety on the flagship project and everything that follows it, against the FID-approved budget and the milestones the business has committed to. You'll be the owner's rep on site with EPC and BOP contractors, running the programme, certifying progress, handling variations and claims. You'll steer commissioning through FAT/SAT, staged energisation and grid hold points, working closely with Engineering and Grid.
And because you're the first of many projects, you'll also be building the team, the systems and the repeatable delivery model this business needs to run several projects at once without it all falling in a heap. When a project reaches COD, you'll hand it over clean to Asset Management.
What you'll bring:
- 15+ years delivering utility-scale electrical infrastructure (BESS,
solar, wind, substations or generation), including 5+ years leading delivery teams
- At least one 100MW+ project taken from FID to COD, with personal accountability for schedule, cost and HSSE - BESS experience strongly preferred
- Real experience administering EPC/BOP contracts as owner's rep, including variations, EOT claims and liquidated damages
- A track record with construction budgets of AU$100m+
- Working knowledge of NEM connection and registration processes and AEMO/NER requirements
- Strong people leadership, and the commercial judgement to hold your ground with major contractors
