About Acumen HSC

Acumen HSC is a Sydney-based HSC tutoring business. We work with students across Years 11 and 12, running one-on-one and small group sessions (capped at 4 students) focused on exam technique, robust written responses, and the specific demands of each HSC syllabus. Lessons run online via Zoom and in person depending on the student.

About the Role

We're looking for tutors to join our team on a subcontractor basis. You'll be matched with students based on your subject(s), availability, and fit, with the expectation of a consistent weekly slot per student for at least 2 full terms, ideally through to their HSC. Most of our students are working toward specific trial or final exams, so sessions are structured around live syllabus walkthroughs and timed practice: building strong short-answer and extended responses, working through past paper questions, and topic mastery across the modules of your course.

You'll teach with Acumen's resources, including Band 6 topic notes, indexed past paper banks, and mock exams, so you're not building materials from scratch.





What You'll Do

- Deliver weekly one-on-one and small group (max 4) tutoring sessions in your HSC subject(s)
- Prepare students for school assessments, trials, and the HSC exam
- Give feedback on practice responses, essays, and past paper questions
- Answer student questions between lessons (we target a 24-hour response time)
- Communicate with Acumen HSC regarding student progress and scheduling
- Maintain the same time slot with your student(s) on a recurring basis

What We're Looking For

- Band 6 result in the HSC course(s) you want to tutor (E4 for Extension courses). You must have sat that HSC exam yourself
- Currently studying or holding a university degree, ideally in a field related to your subject(s)
- Strong communication skills, particularly around structuring short-response and extended-response answers, and explaining concepts and worked solutions clearly
- Reliable and able to commit to a fixed weekly slot for at least a full term
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Comfortable operating as a subcontractor with your own ABN (or willing to set one up)

Pay

$40-$45 per hour depending on experience; paid fortnightly.
