About the Role
This is a varied and practical HR role where you will work across the full employee lifecycle.
You will support recruitment, onboarding, employee records, probation, compliance, performance processes and employee relations administration, while providing responsive HR support to managers and employees.
Customer service is paramount in this role. Our HR team supports people across the business and we expect the successful candidate to provide a professional, responsive service to both employees and managers.
You will need to be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and taking ownership of your responsibilities while knowing when to seek guidance.

- Conduct initial phone and Microsoft Teams candidate interviews
- Coordinate onboarding and new starter documentation
- Manage probation review tracking and employee lifecycle administration

- Respond to HR queries in a timely, professional and customer-focused manner
- Coordinate reference checks and right-to-work verification
- Support HR compliance activities across Australia and New Zealand
- Assist with employee relations matters and associated documentation

- Take ownership and follow tasks through to completion
- Are comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask for support
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Are organised and able to manage competing priorities
- Have excellent attention to detail and take pride in accuracy
- Are confident dealing with confidential and sensitive information
- Are committed to learning and developing your HR capability
- Are practical, solutions-focused and willing to roll up your sleeves
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced operational environment
The Working Environment
ASKIN is an operational business and our HR team is closely connected to the workplace.
This is a hands-on HR role where you will be visible and accessible to employees and managers. You will spend time engaging with people across the workplace, supporting managers, responding to issues and getting involved in the day-to-day operation of the business.
We are looking for someone who enjoys being around people and part of the action.
You won't simply sit behind a desk processing HR administration. You will build relationships, answer questions, support managers and contribute to creating a positive employee experience.
If you enjoy working with people, taking ownership and making a difference through practical HR support, you will enjoy this role.
Your Development
You will report to the Group Human Resource Manager who will provide you with the opportunity to build your HR knowledge and capability across a broad range of HR activities.
We are not expecting you to know everything. What is important is that you have a solid HR foundation, a willingness to learn and the initiative to have a go.
You will be supported and mentored while being given increasing responsibility as your capability develops.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' HR experience, with demonstrated knowledge of Australian employment practices and legislation.
- Experience in recruitment and onboarding
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- HR, Business or related qualification desirable
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, logistics, retail or another operational environment will be highly regarded
Office-Based Role
This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position based at our Dandenong South site.
Being present in the workplace is an important part of the role. Our HR team works directly with employees and managers across the business, so this is not a hybrid or work-from-home position.
