Casual Educator and Responsible Person opportunities

Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service within St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, West Kempsey

We offer

- As a casual role, hours will vary. As a general guide, most casual staff work minimum 7-10 hours/week during school term, and up to 25 hours/week during vacation care.

Duties

- Before/After School and Vacation programs
- Organise and supervise children in various recreational and educational activities.
- Take an active role in supporting positive behaviours and self-regulation.
- Apply policies, procedures or similar related to an early childhood education and care environment.
- Responsible Person opportunities for experienced candidates.

Selection Criteria

- Must be available 2:30pm-6pm during school term and between 7am-6pm during school holidays. Weekdays only (no weekends or public holidays).
- Employees must have, or be able to obtain prior to commencement, a current NSW Working with Children Check clearance (for paid employment).
- Professional presentation and excellent punctuality.
- Ability to apply and comply with child safeguarding principles and mandatory reporting obligations.
- Ability to engage in a positive and friendly manner with children and families.
- Experience and/or qualifications in childcare/education would be highly regarded, but not essential.
- Responsible Person shifts also require:



Current First Aid Qualification specific for early childhood settings (HLTAID012) and Child Protection Training (CHCPRT025 or equivalent).

Pay rates

Pay rates are based on level of appointment, starting from Level 1.3 ($39.95 per hour). As a guide, most educators are employed at:

- Level 3: $42.37 per hour including allowances, plus superannuation (e.g. experience and/or Certificate III/IV in Early Childhood Education and Care)
- Level 4: $45.11 per hour including allowances, plus superannuation (Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or Teaching qualification)
- Level 5: $48.66 per hour including allowances, plus superannuation (when undertaking Responsible Person duties)

Above rates include the current Worker Retention Payment (allowance) paid under the Australian Government Early Childhood Education and Care Retention Payment.

Candidates must hold a current NSW Class C Driver's Licence and have unrestricted right to work in Australia (no working holiday visa holders).

To support our team members who are parents/guardians, options are available to have your primary school-aged child/ren enrolled and attending the service (fee payable) on days you are working.
