Genwest is looking for an experienced Industrial Electrician to join our Kalgoorlie team.
This is a varied, hands-on position working with generators, temporary power systems and associated electrical equipment across our Kalgoorlie workshop and mine sites throughout the Goldfields.
The role would suit an electrician with strong industrial fault-finding skills who is comfortable working independently and wants exposure to a wide variety of equipment and sites.
About the Role
Your responsibilities will include
- Electrical fault finding and repairs on diesel generators and associated equipment
- Installation, testing and commissioning of temporary power systems
- Generator control and protection system fault finding
- Working with generator controllers, automatic start/stop systems and changeover arrangements
- Testing, inspection and repair of electrical distribution equipment and cable sets
- Electrical pre-hire and off-hire inspections
- Generator load testing and commissioning
- Attending breakdowns and carrying out field repairs
- Electrical installation and modification of equipment
- Assisting with generator synchronisation and control systems where required
- Completing electrical testing, documentation and service reports
- Working across mine sites throughout the Goldfields
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant standards and site requirements
About You To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Experience working with three-phase power and industrial equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and isolation procedures
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Ability to complete mine-site inductions and meet site requirements
Experience with any of the following would be highly regarded:
- Diesel generators and power generation
- ComAp, Deep Sea or similar generator controllers
- Generator synchronisation and load sharing
- Automatic transfer switches and changeover systems
- Temporary power distribution
- PLC/control systems
- Mine-site electrical maintenance
- Soft starters and motor control systems
Generator experience is advantageous but not essential. If you have a strong industrial electrical background and the right attitude, training and support can be provided.
