Role Description This full-time remote role as an IT Support Officer / IT Support Specialist (Entry / Junior Level) at FMUC - Faculdade de Medicina da UC focuses on providing first-line technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students. The role includes responding to support requests via ticketing systems, email, and phone, and documenting issues and resolutions clearly.

Daily tasks involve installing and configuring desktop computers and peripherals, supporting printers and basic network connectivity, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and access problems. The specialist will escalate complex issues to senior IT staff as needed, follow established procedures and service-level guidelines, and contribute to maintaining an organized knowledge base of common issues and solutions.

Qualifications

- Ability to provide effective Technical Support, including clear communication with users and accurate issue documentation.
- Strong Troubleshooting skills for identifying, diagnosing, and resolving common hardware and software problems.




- Foundational knowledge of Information Technology concepts, operating systems, and standard office applications.
- Hands-on experience with Desktop Computers, including installation, configuration, and basic maintenance.
- Practical Printer Support skills, covering setup, connectivity, and resolution of printing errors.
- Good customer service orientation, with a patient and solution-focused approach to assisting users.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage priorities, and follow documented procedures.
- Basic understanding of networks and security best practices is an advantage.
- Relevant education or certification in IT (e.g., computer science, information systems, CompTIA A+ or equivalent) is beneficial.
- Willingness to learn, adapt to current tools and technologies, and grow within an academic IT environment.
