About the Job
There is an exciting chance with the Esperance Public Library for a Library Officer. Provide excellent customer service to enhance the effective operation of the Library service and assist with marketing and promotions, home library service, programs, administrative and collection maintenance activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Undertake promotion and marketing activities for Library including its collection, services, programs and projects. This involves updating the Library’s website, social media and designing promotional material.
- Assist customers in the use of equipment and technology such as computers, photocopiers, wireless internet access, online resources, library apps, e-resources and mobile devices or refer to specialist staff.
- As part of a team undertake organisational tasks including: home library service; inter-library loans; item reservations; overdue/missing/lost and damaged items; memberships; tax help program; supplies ordering, maintaining display boards, safety data registers, responding to enquiries and collecting statistics.
This is a permanent part-time position, working 23.25 hours per week. The working days are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Employees will be required to work some closing shifts as part of their rostered duties.
About you In order to succeed and thrive in this position, you must have:
- Undertake library and desk tasks as required including, but not limited to, joining new members; discussing and assisting with general, reference and readers advisory enquiries; issuing, renewing and returning loans; placing reservations; inter-library loan transactions; collecting fees and charges; reshelving items,
maintaining tidiness and shelf order of library resources; ensure the presentation of the library is inviting and tidy.
- Coordinate the Home Library Service
- Assist customers in the use of equipment and technology such as computers, photocopiers, wireless internet access, online resources, library apps, e-resources and mobile devices or refer to specialist staff.
- Applicants must hold a current "C" Class Driver's Licence.

Hourly Rate: $34.91 (Saturday shifts will be paid at an increased rate due to additional loading)
