The Role The Manager, Audit and Assurance is responsible for the operational delivery of VicTrack’s internal audit, assurance and governance activities, supporting the effectiveness of the organisation’s governance, risk management and control frameworks.
The role manages the planning, coordination and execution of a risk-based internal audit program, ensuring audits are delivered efficiently, recommendations are practical and outcomes support continuous improvement across the business.
The position will support a culture of accountability, compliance and continuous improvement. The position conducts and oversees independent assessments of control design and operating effectiveness across business functions, identifies opportunities to strengthen controls and performance.
The role provides timely analysis, reporting and insights on key risks, emerging issues and assurance outcomes to support informed decision-making by senior management and governance committees. Through strong stakeholder engagement, the role supports a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement throughout VicTrack.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of the internal audit program, including audit planning, fieldwork, reporting, stakeholder engagement and resource management.
- Guide the development and delivery of the internal assurance program, reporting on the effectiveness of key operational controls and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Manage the day-to-day delivery and performance of the internal audit function, overseeing audit reporting and quality review processes.
- Support the Group Manager in providing insights and reporting to Executive Leadership and the Audit and Risk Management Committee on key risk, compliance, control and governance matters.
- Manage the tracking and reporting of audit actions, working with stakeholders to support timely closure and sustainable improvements.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen compliance, accountability and organisational performance.
- Analyse emerging risks, trends and control gaps, providing insights and recommendations to support proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
- Maintain independence, objectivity and adherence to skilled internal audit standards.
- Lead and develop a capable and engaged team through coaching, mentoring, performance development and effective resource management.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related discipline (mandatory)
- Professional accreditation (CA/CPA or equivalent) (mandatory)
- Professional internal audit or assurance qualification (e.g. CIA or equivalent) (desirable)
Knowledge & Experience:
- Extensive experience in internal audit, assurance or governance roles within a complex or regulated environment.
- Experience managing internal audit service providers within agreed timeframes, scope and budgets.
- Experience working with Boards or Audit and Risk Management Committees, including preparing and presenting audit findings, will be highly regarded.
- Well-developed leadership and people management skills, with the ability to support and develop diverse teams, build trust and foster a positive and collaborative culture.
- Demonstrated experience delivering risk-based internal audit and assurance activities, including audit planning, fieldwork, control testing and reporting.
- Strong understanding of governance, risk management and control frameworks, with the ability to provide practical, evidence-based recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience improving governance, compliance and control environments within complex organisations.
- Well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex issues, evaluate risks and identify practical solutions.
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgement while building effective relationships and influencing positive outcomes across a broad stakeholder group.
- Demonstrated experience developing team capability through coaching, mentoring and performance development in a changing environment.
