About Pace Live
Pace Live is an Australian based global entertainment company that develops, produces, promotes, and tours premium theatrical productions. Our work spans financing, development, creative and technical production, tour scheduling, marketing, and facilitation, delivered through a complete end to end model.
Supported by growing global infrastructure and trusted relationships with theatres, promoters, and industry partners across key international markets, we don't just create our productions. We tour them, book the venues, promote the seasons, and present them directly to audiences around the world.
Our productions have reached audiences across Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, the United States (including New York's Off Broadway), and the United Kingdom (including London's West End), and our global touring footprint continues to expand.
About the Role
We're hiring a Marketing and Communications Manager to own campaign delivery, ticket sales performance, brand, and communications across our national and international tour calendar.
This is a senior, independent role with three parts to it. You own the campaign plan and the marketing budget for every show. You own how Pace Live and our productions are represented publicly, from press through to brand consistency across five countries. And you build the brand partnerships and collaborations that extend our reach beyond what we can buy.
You will not be told what to do each week. You will be told what each tour needs to sell and trusted to build the plan that gets it there.
You'll report to the Executive Producer and Producer, and manage the Marketing Executive and the Social Media Coordinator. You'll direct our external designers, video editors, publicists, and media buyers, and work closely with producers, company managers, and venue marketing teams across five countries.
This role sits close to the strategy of the business. Our company is growing, new productions are in development, and you'll be at the table for how they are positioned and launched. It suits someone who has run campaigns in performing arts, theatre, or live touring and understands why a Tuesday night in a 700 seat regional venue is a completely different problem to a Saturday in a capital city.
What You'll Actually Do
Campaign strategy and ownership
- Build the marketing plan for every tour and every venue on it, with a clear rationale for spend, channel mix, and timing against each market.
- Set the on sale strategy for each season, including pricing signals, pre sale windows, subscriber offers, and inventory release.
- Segment the tour. Identify which venues need heavy support and which will sell on brand alone, then allocate accordingly rather than spreading budget evenly.
- Adjust live. When a venue is soft at four weeks out, you make the call on what changes and you make it early.
Budget ownership
- Own the marketing budget across the tour calendar, including allocation by venue, tracking against spend, and cost per ticket reporting.
- Negotiate rates and terms with media buyers, suppliers, and venue marketing departments.
- Justify every allocation on return. Report spend and performance on a fixed cycle.
Company strategy
- Build the annual marketing and communications strategy for the group, covering both the touring calendar and the company brand.
- Contribute to how new productions are positioned and launched, from development through to first on sale.
- Bring audience insight and market read into slate and routing conversations. What is selling, where, and why.
- Keep the founders and producers informed on brand, audience, and market position without them having to ask.
Stakeholder and supplier management
- Own the relationship with venue marketing teams across Australia, Current Zealand, Ireland, the UK, and the United States. Get more out of the venue than the contract requires.
- Brief, direct, and hold accountable external media buyers, publicists, designers, and video editors. Set the standard and enforce it.
- Work directly with producers and company managers on talent availability, press days, media appearances, and launch moments.
- Represent Pace Live professionally with partners, promoters, and press.
Team leadership
- Manage the Marketing Executive and Social Media Coordinator. Set their priorities, review their work, and develop them.
- Make sure execution is happening to standard without you doing it yourself.
Ticket sales performance
- Own the sales number for every tour and every venue.
- Monitor daily sales and projections, diagnose underperformance, and act on it.
- Report weekly on position, risk, and the actions being taken.
Reporting
- Build and maintain campaign reporting that shows what worked, what didn't, and what changes next time.
- Keep all campaign activity, budgets, and projections current in Monday.com.
- Contribute post tour marketing reviews that improve the next run.
What Success Looks Like
- Every tour hits its ticket sales target.
- Underperforming venues are identified early and acted on, not explained afterwards.
- The marketing budget is spent where it returns and you can show why.
- Pace Live and its productions look and sound consistent in every market.
- We land brand partnerships that deliver measurable reach or revenue, and the partners come back.
- Press and publicity deliver coverage that moves tickets, not just clippings.
- Venues deliver more than their contracted marketing because of the relationship you've built.
- The Marketing Executive and Social Media Coordinator are clear on priorities and delivering.
- The Executive Producer and Producer know the position of every campaign without having to ask.
Who You Are
- You own the outcome, not the task list. When something is off track, you have already started fixing it before anyone asks.
- You work independently. You do not need day to day supervision and you do not wait for direction.
- You are commercially minded. You think in cost per ticket, not impressions.
- You are a strong writer. You can hold a brand voice and write something people actually want to read.
- You are comfortable in the room with partners, presenters, and press, and you represent the company well.
- You are direct. You tell people what you need, you tell us when something is at risk, and you don't dress it up.
- You are organised at scale. Multiple tours, multiple countries, multiple time zones, nothing dropped.
- You hold suppliers to account without damaging the relationship.
- You know live entertainment. You understand on sales, box office, holds, comps,
and why a slow week matters.
What You'll Need
- Minimum 4 years in marketing management, ideally 5 or more, with direct experience in performing arts, theatre, live touring, festivals, or events. This is not negotiable for this role.
- Demonstrated ownership of a marketing budget with accountability for return.
- Track record of hitting ticket sales or comparable revenue targets.
- Communications experience across press, publicity, and brand, including managing external publicists or agencies.
- Experience securing or managing brand partnerships, sponsorships, or collaborations.
- Experience managing external suppliers, including media buyers and publicists.
- Experience managing or directing at least one direct report.
- Strong working knowledge of paid digital across Meta, Google, and TikTok.
- Comfortable with ticketing platform data, sales reports, and projections.
- Hands on experience with Slack and Monday.com is highly favoured, as we run our entire operation on them.
- Strong written English across strategy documents, press materials, briefs, and stakeholder communication.
Nice to Have
- Experience across international touring markets, particularly the US, UK, Ireland, or New Zealand.
- Existing relationships with Australian venue marketing teams, regional presenters, or arts media.
- Experience launching a new production, brand, or season from scratch.
- Experience with subscription seasons or multi show programming.
- Tourism, destination, or cultural partnership experience.
- Google Analytics, UTM tracking, and CRM or email platform experience.
The Practicals Hours: Full time. Core business activity sits around 9am to 5pm AEST, but the nature of live touring for a global entertainment company means flexibility is required around on sale launches, show weeks, and international time zones, including occasional evening and weekend work.
Location: Gold Coast HQ, three days per week in the office and two from home. Open to candidates based on the Gold Coast, in Brisbane, or in Northern NSW.
Salary: $100,000 to $120,000 per annum plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.
Reports to: Executive Producer and Producer.
Direct reports: Marketing Executive, Social Media Coordinator.
